Ramadhan is here! Hope everyone makes full use of this blessed month that comes but once a year...
Even though Ramadhan is about so much more than abstinence from food...nevertheless its like the elephant in the room! Here are some tips for overcoming hunger and thirst in Ramadhan...
DRINK!! Sound obvious but its surprising how less people drink between Iftaar and Sehri- drink as much water or fruit juice between these times to rehydrate the body as much as possible and readjust the fluid levels over the month....(oh and try to cut down on caffeine drinks e.g. tea and coffee)
EAT!! Yes those samosas may look sooo tasty BUT eating slow-digesting foods e.g. rice will fill you with energy for longer and you'll be less hungry! Aim for a well-balanced diet during Ramadhan that contains food from each food group. Turn your plate of fried food into a plate of rainbow wonder!
AVOID! The tasty samosas have been mentioned before, fried foods can be enjoyed in moderation BUT too much and they cause indigestion and heartburn. And for all you tea-lovers out there (myself included) too much tea at Sehri can make you pass excess urine during the day which contains salts that your body needs during the day! Finally, dont eat too much at Sehri as your stomach adjusts to how much you eat!
Aaand...that is it I think! Quite alot there to digest but I do hope it is of use!
Till next timee...Wasalamz...
